8-15-14 Some Vanished Others Reappeared

Friday, August 15th
...no fog and no whales and 27 plus Ts just vanished!
...Granny's group - Group A showed up near the entrance to the Fraser River...they don't need the test fishing and the emails to figure out where the salmon are coming from...but we humans do...the latest report from the Fraser River Panel is that not 90% but now 95% of the sockeye are coming in from the north...the whales prefer the Chinook salmon and the lack of presence by the majority of the Southern Residents is a clear indicator that there just isn't much food in here now...

...this morning the 13 whales of Group A started to come down, then went back north...the closest thing to black and white contrasts we saw was this Common Murre taking a bath...
...it wasn't until this afternoon that Group A came down far enough that we could reach them...out on Maya's Westside Charters we meet the whales just south of the Coal Docks...

...on the way back several eagles were feasting on something...ooops, we surprised them when we came around the west end of Spieden Island...

...I'm not sure if the whales will come down or not...maybe someone will hear them in the night...campers at County Park can hear their blows as they go by, if it is a calm evening...or if the whales are vocal, over the hydrophones...
